Saving Lives at Sea
S11 E9 · Rip Current Surfer
The Porthcawl crew’s training night is disrupted when a call comes from a dog walker who has spotted a surfer in trouble below the cliffs at nearby Rest Bay. During the peak of a cyclone known as Storm Amy, Bridlington’s lifeboat is tasked to a Dutch trawler that has lost power 13 miles off the Yorkshire coast. In Ireland, an urgent call comes in to the Crosshaven crew from a yacht taking part in a local race; on board, an elderly sailor is reported to have broken his leg. The Calshot crew face a tense search in thick fog for a motorboat with engine failure - somewhere in the busy shipping lanes of the Solent. And reports of a submerged car in the Thames put the Chiswick crew on red alert.
