Dermot's Taste of Ireland
S2 E9 · Sligo Town
Dermot O'Leary arrives in Sligo, Yeats country, where the mountains, sea and sky feel like they've barely changed since the poet put them into verse. Local guide Tracey brings that world to life, tracing Yeats' Irish-English existence and the places that shaped him. From there, Dermot heads out onto the bay with Glen and Aisling of Sligo Oysters, getting his hands dirty on a working oyster farm before cooking the catch over an open flame on the shore. In Sligo town, he meets man-of-the-town chef Anthony Gray, who leads him through two of its most treasured food institutions: Clarke's, a family butcher of long standing, and Cosgrove & Sons, a provisions store that looks and feels like it hasn't changed in a century. With their haul gathered, Anthony and Dermot head to his flagship restaurant Eala Bán, where they cook up a proudly Irish Surf 'N' Turf.
